Safety and common P2P scams
The escrow stops anyone from stealing the XMR, but the money payment happens off-platform. These rules prevent almost every scam.
If you sell
- Release only when you see the money in YOUR banking app. Screenshots can be faked in seconds.
- Check that the payer's name matches the buyer. A third-party payment may come from a stolen account.
- Beware of reversible methods (⚠): PayPal, Mercado Pago, Revolut, cards. Require an order history.
- Do not release on a “pending”, “scheduled” or “under review” payment.
If you buy
- Do not pay until the order says the XMR is locked in the escrow.
- Pay from an account in your own name and keep the receipt.
- Don't write “Monero”, “crypto” or “XMR” in the payment reference.
For everyone
- Never close a deal off-platform: outside the escrow there is no appeal.
- The only address is fiat.monerop2p.app. Distrust lookalike links.
- Nobody from support will ask for your password or your backup file.
- Cash: public place, with cameras, in daylight.
- Download your account backup after each order: it includes the keys of your open escrows.
